How much should you expect to pay a gardener for regular or one-off garden maintenance?

Apart from getting an old git my back no longer tolerates gardening ! so I need to get someone in.
A guide to how much on average this will cost would be appreciated.
No one likes a Grass.

I do it for a living ted. I charge a score an hour. Turning work down because there's not enough hours in the day!! There's gardeners out there that will charge 10/12 but use your equipment, basically their fag/booze money. Expect to pay 18/25 for a proper job.

Depends what he is doing.
Is he having to garden uphill?
Is he trimming your shrubs?
Can he fit all his tools in your back shed?
Doing any de-flowering?
If you're growing vegetables, has he had to do any ploughing?

Ted,
I've got a mate in Clacton who charges £11 p/h.
He's a fireman so does odd jobs when he's off so he can be a little irregular.
Does the job tho. Mowing, Weeding etc etc....
(beware he has been know to pull out some prize begonias thinking they were weeds.)

Seriously Ted,she has her own buisness and chrges a score per hour regardless of what the work involves. Think thats pretty standard.

Pikeys certainly don't mess around, helped the old man move this huge iron wheel recently to the front of his house as he was selling it in an auction.
By the time we'd gone back to get the other wheel the first one had been nicked!

Removing a tree stump requires a stump grinder so hardly Garden Maintenance!
Typical rate for regular garden maintenance is between £15 - 18 hour for grass cutting, weeding, edging, digging over, hedge trimming, planting etc.

I have got two people coming later to give me a quote I normally get three for any work needed.
I know quite a bit about gardening but I should Never of planted Bamboo back in the day it is a right cnut.
